Program

ABOUT US

The Constitutional Scholars Program is a non-profit, non-partisan, educational, community outreach program of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York (“NDNY”), which is sponsored and administered by the NDNY Federal Court Bar Association ("NDNY-FCBA").

The mission of the NDNY-FCBA is to foster the highest ethical and professional standards for all attorneys practicing in the NDNY by providing continuing legal education and serving a liaison between the Federal Bench and Bar, monitoring and proposing changes as needed to the Local Rules of Practice and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and performing such other acts as to enhance the standards of federal practice in the NDNY. For example, the NDNY-FCBA, with approximately 400 members in two separate chapters, currently does the following:

    1.Develops continuing legal education programs concerning mandatory electronic filing, courtroom technology, and local settlement practices;

    2.Sponsors admission ceremonies throughout the thirty-two counties included within the District;

    3.Addresses issues raised by the judiciary and our members concerning local federal practice; and

    4.Sponsors companion social events to enhance camaraderie and esprit de corps among the members of the local federal bar.
